Free hand sketching is a basic, yet very efficient tool for landscape architects to translate their ideas from thoughts to paper.  It is an important visual aid to help persuade clients on a proposed design solution.  Although there are many ways to graphically show visual aids with a computer; the art of sketching by hand still has its place in this profession that is dominated by technology .  It has a loose, informal yet human feel to the drawings.  The images shown were sketched during my study abroad experience in the spring of 2009 where I visited London, Edinburgh, Paris, Barcelona, and Berlin.  My sketching improved over the eight weeks spent on my trip, and my knowledge on design was broadened greatly after seeing so many unique uses of public space.
