Traveling has greatly expanded my design horizon by seeing so many unique uses of public spaces in urban and rural areas. Traveling allows one to see others thought processes regarding uses of the land. I always try to take at least one design design element or principle away from a site that I feel I could incorporate into my future designs. I view every site or space as a learning experience. Through my traveling experiences, I've learned that almost any design is possible because I have seen some truly awesome forms of art in the landscape from massive sculptures, to monuments, artistic buildings, historical preservation sites, interactive sites that engage users of the space, quiet, contemplative sites, to sites that use natural resources as assets to the site. Creating these artistic, highly used spaces is one of the main challenges that all landscape architects face.
